Time plays a very important role in this painting;
The time the audience takes to notice the weapons in the painting
The two minute time out the team is taking; which leaves Shanice (the captain) to count the worms (die). It was through crits and discussions with my class mates and tutor that I picked up on some of these connotions/aspects of the painting.
With this composition, I wanted to create an eclipse frame so that the audience is far from a blind eye to the issue I am raising. The use of the green for the coach's tie compared to the teams jersey colour (red) creates a division and contrast especially be cause they are complementary colours. There are several weapons in this painting however the most dangerous on is the coach; hence the sharp and bright green tie.
I really enjoyed painting the ground of the painting. Although the painting initially seemed literally I know that there are more details in the painting that speak.
