PAINTING OBJECTS AND USING THE OBJECTS THEMSELVES

Painting does more than reveal a subject! It reveals a cornucopia of colour and motion. ''Drawing is closer to whispering into someones ear, while painting is like the ear itself. It contains all that has ever entered there. It listens more than it speaks, It throws speech into the dark''- Marlene Dumas
Painting carries this hierarchy of respect; so much that when I curated both my installation and my painting in the studio the painting was more noticed. I placed the painting above the installation as seen in the image above, with mark on the floor notifying it was a piece of work in a gallery setting. Whiles the curator was mounting my painting up on the wall, she picked up one of my chairs to stand on, not realising that is was a piece of work. It was a part of my painting. Another tutor and student picked up a chair to sit on. Why did I have to make a painting for those same chairs to be noticed and respected?
