A painting after Andy Spyra's image from Nigeria during the Boko Haram attacks. His photograph is of a woman who appears to be muslim in front of a catholic building in Chibok, however I decided to paint parts of the image that stood out to me. Chibok is a village in Nigeria, primarily Christian with a Muslim minority; so the aim of Boko Haram was to kidnap the girls, convert them into extremists. When I painted the image and excluded some bits of the original image I felt a sense of hopelessness.
